A few months back I gave FriendFeed a try. I had high hopes for this tool, because I envisioned a hub that would aggregate all my social media in one easy-to-use place - a traffic control tower for all the fly-bys and missives launched into cyberspace. Not only would I be able to see exactly [...]
I fell off the editorial calendar bandwagon a while back. As I’ve said before, I believe the editorial calendar to be one of the most important aspects of creating a sustainable blog. It provides a framework for the week, and this structure makes it easier to decide topics for the week. So I’m going with [...]
I just learned from Advertising, marketing and copywriting made easy that Lee Clow, Chief Creative Office at Apple’s long-time ad-agency TBWA/Media Arts Lab (formerly Chiat/Day), is stepping down. He was a major creative force behind many of of Apple’s best and most provocative advertising.

This guy is so old school I’m surprised there’s really any online component to him whatsoever. And let’s face it: the website is totally so wrong that it’s almost right , so bad it’s a classic.

I’m almost two weeks knee deep into the 30 Day Challenge - with the goal simply being to set up a site and make a sale of any product or service. In the 13 Lessons I’ve done so far, I’ve learned the following:
It’s all about the basics: content (product) and distribution. The key to any [...]
I’ve got a client who is trying to introduce a new product to market - and when I mentioned a simple P&L statement and a ‘Go-to-Market’ strategy, she gave me a blank stare. I mean, these are the basics, right - knowing how many units you need to sell to make a profit - and [...]
My Dad recently pointed me to a pretty interesting blog written by a guy who lives totally off the grid and doesn’t believe in either earning or spending money. Check it out here.
The more I learn about this guy, Daniel Suelo, the more he reminds me about the spirit of social media. The analogy that [...]
Since Linchpin was published six weeks ago, I've gotten some terrific email. Most of it is about individuals who used the ideas in the book to instigate a process of self-reinvention or validation. Some of the best mail, though, has...
This will probably be the most self-promoting post I’ve ever written. Skip it, if you want. I’d understand. The time has come. I have a favor to ask. If you’re interested in our book, if you support all that I’ve given you over the past several years, if you want to buy a friend [...]
