So, I’ve been waiting to get my website fundogcollars.com off the ground so that I can participate in The 30 Day Challenge. But it’s been a Tale of Two Cities. In one corner I have Hostgator, the hosting company. They promptly replied to my customer service queries and stupid questions and made sure I got what I needed fast.
In the other corner is Wordpress Direct, the third-party WordPress solution touted so highly by The Challenge. They took on average about 24 hours to get back to me with any help, even though they promote great customer service on their site. Until-
I decided to use twitter as a blowtorch.
I made a service request with them yesterday morning to resolve a site issue that was holding me up - day 5 and counting. Replies? Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zero.
So this morning I posted one simple tweet: Still waiting for WordPress Direct to reply to my Support Ticket. Going on 24 hours now. Yawn.
Not rude. Not adversarial. Just the facts. Within 20 minutes I got an email from them saying my problem had been resolved and my site was up. Obviously, they monitor twitter like all good companies should.
Another example of the power of the social community. You can light fires now and again, and yes, people are listening. Thanks WordPress Direct. And thank you, twitter.
Off to Day 7 of the Challenge tomorrow. Cross your fingers for me, word.
